Natasha Wolmarans, Port Officer Representative for Richards Bay, South Africa:
Natasha has been the “face” of the OCC in Richards Bay South Africa, meeting every single
foreign yacht that comes in across the Indian Ocean to make landfall here. Not only OCC
members, but every single foreign yacht, promoting the OCC each and every day. Some 110
yachts have been through her hands this year, and she has dealt with coordinating sea
rescues, handing out SIM cards to each boat on arrival so they can contact home easily,
handing out packets of sweets to boats with kids on board and cold beers to thirsty
skippers. She has worked tirelessly as a liaison between port authorities, Immigration and
Customs officials, organised PCR tests for every cruiser on arrival, and ensured that each
boat knows exactly what to do and where to go.
