Sir Alec Rose and Jim Griffin

OCC Award - 1968

Two awards were made:
SIR ALEC ROSE received £30 and a plaque, presumably in recognition of his singlehanded circumnavigation aboard LIVELY LADY, with stops in Melbourne and Bluff Harbour, New Zealand. He returned to Southsea, Portsmouth on 4 July 1968 after 354 days at sea. Following the death of Founder and Admiral Humphey Barton in 1980, Sir Alex Rose was invited to become Admiral, a position he held until his death in 1991.
JCR GRIFFIN received £10 for a very well-written log. Jim Griffin, Port Officer for the Bahamas, had pieces published in Flying Fish 1967/1 and 1968 and this may refer to the latter.
