Thies Matzen and Kicki Ericson

For their commitment, over 30 years and 143,000 miles of sailing, in keeping alive the spirit of Eric and Susan Hiscock aboard their cherished 30ft Wanderer III. Thies and Kicki were commended for their shared desire to ‘tread lightly’ on this planet and for maintaining Wanderer III virtually unchanged since 1952. Their unbounded curiosity and interest in the wildlife of the Southern Ocean led them to spend two consecutive winters and summers – 2009 to 2011 – aboard Wanderer III in South Georgia, at 54°S 36°W.
