Arrived last night, to be greeted in inimitable OCC way by a party of note! bill & Laurie on ToodleOo, Phil, Norma & Des on Minnie B - latter not part of the Rally unfortunately as they are of tomorrow, but great to see them again - last time was South Africa! Spent this morning with Jose arranging some exciting events - this is going to be a fun party! Bad news is several boats have withdrawn, becalmed mid-Atlantic and having to skip to the Portuguese coast rather. Peter Royston on JACARANDA of FAL
Hi everyone! I am setting out in May this season from Preveza, Greece to make passage to Gib. with my long-suffering wife Gill (OCC) and then changing crew to Ian and Tim to sail the Rally. In order for them to get in the OCC distance requirement we shall kick off from Santo Antonio/Ayamonte on S Spanish coast. (Faro is about 5 miles too short) 'Jacaranda' is 38yr old ketch rigged Oyster 39 that sails like a dream and is a vast improvement on our previous 34ft 'Mister Percival' that we sailed out to Thailand. However, 'Mr.P' sailed like the infamous 'Bounty' and she was also a superb seaboat with a large carrying capacity. Alas, although 'Jac' has a fabulous galley and a huge stern cabin complete with en suite, there is little stowage space for stores both solids and liquids! I previously sailed to Ponta del Garda direct from Falmouth in my 27ft Folkdancer back in June 1983 when we averaged only 3.1kts taking 16 days! Mark Prior in Terceira
Mark Prior June 10 at 5:31pm Having disqualified myself by stopping at Terceira I was hoping to get a prize for being first there or maybe breaking most rules. But it looks like I'm a complete lightweight when it comes to be indisciplined. I do have a plan to be at least noticed, suggested by another OCC member . . . I'm in Terceira eagerly looking forward to meeting everyone.

Horta is starting to get Rally fever - several boats in the marina flying rally flags, Peter Cafe Sport proudly displaying one - and by Friday we should have another 20 or so flying from flagpoles around the marina and in front of Peter Cafe - thanks if I can find someone to go up the ladder to hang them!!
