Ocean Cruising Club

Jimmy Cornell is perhaps best known as founder of the ARC, but this award is given specifically for his many books which have, without doubt, encouraged a great many people to cast off those mooring lines and venture out on the ocean. Best known is World Cruising Routes, first published in 1987 and now in its sixth edition, while his World Cruising Handbook – now renamed World Cruising Destinations – was published in 1991.

Never one to sit on his laurels, Cornell’s Ocean Atlas (reviewed in the new Flying Fish) was published last November, while the fourth in the series, World Voyage Planner, is due out in 2012 and will complete Jimmy’s world cruising series
