On 4th of November, in the Marina Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Oliver Solanas Heinrichs, OCC Port Officer Representative for Fuerteventura and founder of 8islas Group, offered a free Safety Seminar on behalf of the Ocean Cruising Club. More than 70 cruisers preparing to cross the Atlantic Ocean took part.

Agustin Martin POR for Pasito Blanco in Gran Canaria welcomed the audience and started the seminar off by explaining the benefits of being a member of the OCC.

Oliver Solanas Heinrichs presented then his Bluewater Safety Seminar and focused on his phrase " WHAT IF?" Emergency Tiller, Liferafts, Lifevests and MOB were some of the topics covered in this seminar.

Rear Commodore Jenny Crickmore-Thompson, who came all the way from South Africa, closed the event thanking all the attendees.

It has been a very successful event, which is now consolidated and will happen every year in this part of the world. The Canary Islands are the " HUB " for those sailors preparing to cross the Atlantic, thereby fulfilling the requirements to be full members of the OCC.

Oliver wants to thank especially: Agustin Martín, Jenny Crickmore-Thompson, John and Lyn Martin from Sail South Pacific, Carlota Texeira from 8islas and Club Maritimo Varadero.
