The OCC Celtic Cruise in Company is Underway!

For boats heading north to Scotland this year, a friendly cruise in company has set off from the Royal Welsh YC to IoM - Bangor - Ardrossan - Islay

By Daria Blackwell - 11/05/2019

The night before departure, participants shared dinner at the Royal Welsh Yacht Club in Caernarfon, Wales to kick off the OCC Celtic Cruise 2019. Roving Rear Commodores Bill and Laurie Balme (Toodle-oo!), organisers of the cruise, welcomed members while Regional Rear Commodore GB Fi Jones (Contessina) prepared a delicious dinner, with lamb carved by RRC Chris Jones (Contessina).

The boats participating in the 2019 Celtic Cruise did a sail past the Royal Welsh Yacht Club on the spectacular grounds of the walled city on the 10th May, complete with cannon fire. It was a fun event and a nice way to thank such generous hosts. Ocean Hobo, Manana, Blue Bat, Bluenote II, Simo, Toodle-oo!, Contessina and a few boats from the Royal Welsh Yacht Club participated in the sail.

The itinerary of the cruise will include a visit to Commodore Simon and Sally Currin's Open House near Craobh Haven. Stops include:

- Caernarfon, Wales
- Douglas, Isle of Man
- Bangor, Northern Ireland
- Craobh Haven, Scotland
- Islay, Scotland

Members in the vicinity and cruisers interested in the Ocean Cruising Club are invited to join in. For more photos, please visit the photo gallery on this website.
