RoRC Report from 'Toodle-oo' in the UK!

Happy New Year everyone! It’s been an odd winter for us ...

By Bill & Laurie Balme - 23/01/2019

With Laurie back in the USA since November 1st, babbling in a very strange language (Portuguese) and me stuck fixing and breaking boat systems in Whitehaven, Cumbria of all places – and asking for help via the OCC Forum - and not getting much in the way of support!

So, here’s a plug:
The OCC Forum is up, running and needs your input! We have a bunch of old geezers out there with plenty of opinions about how we novices should do stuff – and plenty of us novices out there waiting to hear from you – just so that we can pull your theories apart and embarrass the heck out of you because you know nothing about how easy it is these days with all the new-fangled gadgetry available! (Charts? Aren’t they for hanging on pub walls?) And while I love debating minutia with “My best, Dick Stevenson, s/v Alchemy” it would be truly marvelous if someone else would from time to time throw in a few snippets of helpful tips on how to solve my generator issues because Dick’s been completely unable to!

I’ve asked various folk why they don’t participate on the forum – and they all come up with the excuse that they can never remember their password, and how it’s so much more difficult than Facebook! OK, the OCC – your listening club – has heard you! We’re going to make (hopefully by print time we will have made) it easier for you – when you go to the forum it’ll remember you – just like Facebook does! Excuse eliminated!

So please come and visit the Forum – and see what’s around. Ask a question or two and see who’s out there that might be able to answer just what that thingamajig is all about. Maybe you can help us with our generator! We look forward to your participation – giving and receiving – in a resource which is important to the OCC.

Here’s another plug… For anyone thinking about joining us on the Celtic Cruise, you’d better sign up soon – we only have a few places left and you’re going to miss a real bash! Details are on the events page.

Fair winds for 2019!
