Congratulations to Port Officer Peter McCrea

Peter McCrea from Thomaston, Maine has been selected as Points East Magazine's Yachtsman of the Year.

By Dick and Moira Bentzel - 31/10/2017

Peter McCrea serves as OCC Port Officer for the Rockland/Thomaston area. Points East Magazine's Yachtsman of the Year is a well deserved award for a wonderful person.

The announcement in Points East Magazine, which is "The boating magazine for coastal New England" and has a issue distribution of 25,000 copies (link below), describes Peter's remarkable sailing career. Peter has logged over 74,000 sea miles in his Freedom 32 PANACEA, sailing single and double-handed and inspiring so many others to head offshore. His ethos clearly reflects the OCC philosophy and underscores the fact that he was the first recipient of the OCC's Vertue Award for North American sailors. In 2015, McCrea and Theobalds were awarded the Rambler Medal (see article below).

Congratulations Peter on a well deserved honour. We hope you had a very happy 75th birthday underway.
